Reviews and Ratings
The hotel offers a comfortable stay near the airport and main road. The rooms are clean and cozy, equipped with essentials like a kettle, tea, coffee, water, and biscuits. The service is warm and welcoming, with special amenities for pets. However, the location, while convenient for exploring the New Forest and Bournemouth, was let down by staff not fulfilling promises. The dining experience was a bit mixed, with some room for improvement in food quality. Overall, a value-for-money stay with some highlights and room for enhancement.
I had a mixed experience at the hotel. The rooms were excellent, filled with charming railway memorabilia reflecting its past, but I had a bit of trouble with the cold room and the noisy kitchen extractor fan on the flat roof. On the bright side, I appreciated the complimentary bottled water and real coffee. The service was a bit of a hit-and-miss with an attentive front desk but a forgetful incident with the kitchen extracts. The location is beautiful in the middle of the forest, ideal for a quiet break or attending an event at the Old Vicarage just 6 miles away. The dining experience had its flaws with limited breakfast options and slightly dry food. Overall, a stay with some highs and lows.
The family room was average, and although they provided a desk fan, the lack of air conditioning made the room very stuffy. The bathroom was narrow, forcing even my skinny husband to dry himself in the bedroom to avoid banging his elbows on the wall. The heated towel rail added to the discomfort.
The hotel was very clean and had everything we needed, but the rooms were not very soundproof, and we could hear noise from the neighboring rooms. The pull-out sofa was comfortable and clean.
